The Acacia Quartet has been part of the Festival for the last two years; earlier this year they performed and recorded the HSC student compositions in Sydney. They will perform these works again in the ‘Youth and Exuberance’ concert on Friday night as well as join the Bellingen Youth Orchestra in performance for some works in this concert.
The Acacia quartet will also conduct two workshops: one for primary school students and a special one with the string section of the Bellingen Youth Orchestra. Whether you play yourself or not, this is a rare opportunity for students and adults to observe how string players prepare for performance. It certainly will enhance your concert experience.

In just five years Acacia has released as many albums, including the complete string quartets of Elena Kats-Chernin, selected as ‘Editor’s Choice’ in Limelight Magazine, ‘CD of the Week’ on ABC Classic FM and nominated for a 2013 APRA-AMCOS Art Music Award.
Since 2016 Acacia has their own concert series in the Utzon Room at the Sydney Opera House.
