Deidre
is a graduate from Newcastle Conservatorium, Deakin University and the Royal College of Music in London and has her LMus with the AMEB.
She is well known to audiences in the North West and North Coast regions of NSW, where she has worked in a number of Departmental schools, Directed music departments in PLC and TAS and taught music method at UNE.

When the New England Ensemble and String quartet were resident at the University of New England, Deidre gave sonata recitals with individual members. She has played with the Armidale Symphony orchestra concertos by Grieg, Rachmaninoff No.2, Liszt No.2, Schumann and Saint-Saens “The Carnival of Animals” where she shared the stage with Wendy Lorenz. She has also worked with Carl Pini, Jane Hazelwood, Peta Blyth, Stephen Bennett and two former PLC students, Joanne Green and Alice Rickards, both professional violinists based in Glasgow.

Her teaching has been recognised with the National Excellence in Teaching award and the Australian College of Educational Research Award. She has given recitals for ABC regional and national radio and is a recognised accompanist by the ABC. Deidre has played in master class for Stephen Kavecovic and for John Lill at the Dartington International summer school.

Shelli Hulcombe - soprano
Shelli is a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, and has performed extensively with Opera Queensland in roles including Nannetta in Falstaff, Adele in Die Fledermaus, Giannetta in L’Elisir d’amore, Yum-Yum in The Mikado, Papagena in The Magic Flute and Ensemble in Sweeney Todd. She also performed the role of Cupid in Semele for Pinchgut Opera, the CD of which was released on ABC Classics.

On the concert stage Shelli has performed as soloist with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra, X-Collective, Queensland Pops Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Melbourne Symphony Orchestras. Other recent notable performance venues have included the Angkor Wat in Cambodia, a ‘circus opera’ in Taipei for the Taiwan International Arts Festival, and Thursday Island as part of the Qld Music Festival.

Shelli was in inaugural member of the highly acclaimed chamber choir Cantillations. With them, she has recorded several CDs for ABC Classics, including Carmina Burana, The Messiah (also released on DVD), Voice of the Angel, and Sacred Music of the Renaissance.

Shelli currently sings with the Australian Chamber Musicians and Ensemble Entourage. She also teaches in the vocal departments at the Conservatorium of Music (Griffith University) and the University of Queensland.

Having grown up in Sawtell and Armidale, Shelli is looking forward to returning to perform here in Bellingen.
